| Practically any carpet may be used in creating a custom inlaid rug. Short pile, shag, and stiff plastic fibers may be inlaid, but may not be able to be carved. The majority of carpet that is selected is a deep pile, dense nylon carpet. While wool is acceptable for creating custom rugs and carpets, it is not recommended as it stains easily, marring the appearance of the rug. A wide variety of carpet in a multitude of colors is available. The photo below shows some but certainly not all of the range of available colors. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Note:
Burnt orange carpeting acceptable to the University of Texas licensing authorities is no longer available from any manufacturer |
